Glenelg, Maryland — Jordan Hucht, Partner at Vision Wealth Partners, and Glenelg High School alumnus, served as the Keynote speaker at the Maryland FBLA Region 5 Leadership Conference on Saturday, January 21, 2023.

Hucht took an audience of 400 guests on the journey from “zero to a billion” that he’s shared with his business partners, brothers Josh Weszka and Jason Weszka, also Glenelg High School alumni.

During the session, Hucht told the story of how several key principles fueled the firm’s growth through different phases of the business’ journey from a kitchen table in Mt. Airy to a wealth management firm that now oversees close to a billion dollars in assets.

He shared that, in the early years of their business, two lessons he quickly learned were: it was going to be a lot harder than he thought, and that he’d need to understand the value of relationships.

Said Hucht, “I think the biggest takeaway I learned during the startup phase was that it’s not just enough to be smart, it’s not just enough to have all the education and credentials and letters after your name. That’s the easy part and, honestly, just a prerequisite. The difference makers, and the reasons we started winning at this phase, was much more about our effort and the relationships we were building.”

The three have continued to grow the business with a focus on providing concierge-level service to their clients and remaining true to their original core value — be irreplaceable.

The Maryland FBLA Region 5 Leadership Conference was held on January 21 at Glenelg High School. The Maryland Future Business Leaders of America organization holds Regional Leadership Conferences throughout the state during the month of January. Students compete to determine which members will be eligible to compete at the State Leadership Conference in the spring.
